Lower Cray Community River Clean (Barnes Cray)
28th April 2013 @ 10:30 am - 2:00 pm
Join Thames21, Local River Groups and Residents Associations on a Sunday Event to remove litter and rubbish from the Cray between Crayford and Thames Road. There is a rich history of local people taking on the challenge of removing dumped items from motor vehicles to fly tipped waste and general rich going back many years.
Today this deep water section of the Cray is relatively clear of this abuse of urban rivers. However, the river still needs looking after and this section collects much of the debris from upstream.
This event is one of Thames21 many opportunities for communities to get involved by supporting local groups with organised, equipped community events to remove this rubbish and make a difference.
So join us on a Sunday for a couple of hours of worthwhile fun on and beside the river meeting local people and clearing the floating plastic and other rubbish which damages the biodiversity of the river and depresses the river side walks. We will be using our boat and encouraging residents with small boats to take part. There will also be plenty of work for those on the river bank.
All welcome but persons under 16 must be accompanied by an adult, wear suitable old clothing we will provide suitable footwear gloves and litter pickers so please let Michael know who is coming with their boot size
Meet at the Maiden Lane Bridge (River Cray) opposite the Europa Centre DA1 4ND
