Thames clean-up and survey at Battersea Bridge

February 22 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

NOTE: THE VENUE OF THIS EVENT HAS BEEN MOVED AWAY FROM ST MARY’S CHURCH TO BATTERSEA BRIDGE.

We will meet at the open area with the Mother and Child sculpture on the Thames path; southside, just upstream of Battersea bridge

Join Thames21 and the Tideway Central team to help clean-up the litter that accumulates by Battersea Bridge.  This otherwise beautiful foreshore is unfortunately one of tidal Thames “litter hotspots”. Therefore as well as cleaning the site, we will be leading a count to uncover where all the litter is coming from. This event is part of our Thames River Watch project, which involves volunteers counting a sample of the litter to help us answer questions like:

  • which types of litter are the most common?
  • how is the litter getting into the river (and how do we stop it)?
  • is the litter issue on the Thames getting worse or better?

For more details on our results to date click here.

We would love you to come down and give a helping hand. All ages welcome, children under the age of 16 to be accompanied by an adult. If interested, drop us an email – or you can simply show up! Boots and gloves will be provided by Tideway Central.
