Thames clean-up and survey at Battersea, St Mary’s Church
February 22 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Join Thames21 and the Tideway Central team to help clean-up the litter that accumulates by St Mary’s church every time the tide comes in. This beautiful beach is one of tidal Thames “litter hotspots”. Therefore as well as cleaning the site, we will be leading a count to uncover where all the litter is coming from. This event is part of our Thames River Watch project, which involves volunteers counting a sample of the litter to help us answer questions like:
- which types of litter are the most common?
- how is the litter getting into the river (and how do we stop it)?
- is the litter issue on the Thames getting worse or better?
