Thames21's Volunteer Awards 2009

Ben Williams, Thames21 Volunteer of the Year 2009

3 Dec 2009

Thames21, London’s leading waterways charity, has announced the winners of the 2009 Volunteer Awards.

The awards seek to recognise consistent and committed volunteering at Thames21 events and environmental improvement projects across London for the calendar year.

With over 4,000 volunteers taking part in Thames21’s activities every year, identifying those worthy of these awards is no easy task. Staff and project leaders from Thames21 were invited to nominate those they believed should receive special recognition for their efforts, and the final 2009 winners are as follows:

Thames21 Volunteer of the Year 2009

Ben Williams (for contribution to the rivers team across all of London)
Ben tirelessly and enthusiastically contributes to a wide variety of Thames21 projects from public engagement events to assisting with the maintenance of our storage facility. Ben has provided valuable assistance on the delivery of more than 30 river clean-up events this year, as well as regularly assisting with restoration work in West London, photographing our volunteers in action and taking part in media opportunities to promote Thames21’s opportunities to others.
