Thames21 volunteer selected as part of Vodafone World of Difference programme

Ben Williams, Thames21 Volunteer of the Year 2009

16 Dec 2009

Ben Williams - Thames21's Volunteer of the Year 2009 - has been selected as one of the Vodafone 'World of Difference' programme participants. Selected from hundreds of applicants, Ben is one of 102 people in the London area who will take part in the two month programme in 2010.

Vodafone's World of Difference programme gives people the opportunity to spend time working for charities without having to worry about making financial sacrifices. Through World of Difference people can get paid experience - for two months or a year - at a charity of their choice in the UK or overseas.

The World of Difference programme, delivered by the local Vodafone Foundation in each country, currently operates in 14 countries, with many more countries launching in 2010. To date it has allowed over 700 individuals, around the world, to work for their dream charity - and be paid.

Ben will be assisting Thames21 staff with work in West London, where he will be working towards engaging isolated and disadvantaged communities with our work on rivers and canals.

For more information about the project, please visit the World of Difference website.
