Free Angling Coaching Casts Off
Environmental
charity Thames21 casts off its Tightlines programme in August offering people
of all ages free angling coaching events as part of the Thames21 Angling
Development Project (full event details below).
The coaching sessions will take place in the inner-city London boroughs of Hackney, Southwark and Tower Hamlets. Everyone, especially young people, are encouraged to turn up on the day to try their hand at angling with coaching, equipment and bait provided for free by Thames21. For those who decide they want more than a taster session, Thames21 will link participants up with local angling clubs.
Thames21's Angling Development Coordinator Grant Fear said, 'Thames21 works across London's waterways and we set up Tightlines as a response to young people using the canal environment in the wrong way for the wrong reasons and making the area feel unsafe to the public.'
'Tightlines is part of the Thames21 Angling Development Project and it has proven a successful way of capturing people's interest in the waterways and turning it into some thing more positive. There are a lot of young people out there living in run down urban areas who are interested in learning how to angle but don't know where to start.'
