The Cleaner Thames Challenge - Actions speak louder than words

Media Partner

The Cleaner Thames Challenge is a 5-day litter blitz on one of the most littered stretches of Thames foreshore in the Isle of Dogs, East London. It's Thames21's biggest ever clean up and will take place from Friday September 8 to Tuesday September 12.

MP for Poplar and Canning Town, and Thames21 volunteer Jim Fitzpatrick is supporting the Cleaner Thames Challenge. He said, 'By volunteering at Thames21's Cleaner Thames Challenge, you will be showing how much more we can achieve if we all pitch in together.'

This is one of London's worst Thames beaches and Thames21 needs hundreds of volunteers to pull on their Wellies in a large-scale operation to remove huge amounts of litter including thousands of harmful plastic bags that ruin and pollute this stretch of river.
