Tower Hamlet's Young Anglers Win
Silver at London Youth Games
Young
anglers representing the London Borough of Tower Hamlets took the London
Youth Games by storm when they won silver in a tense contest at Crystal
Palace Lake on July 9.
The team also took individual third out of 70 anglers with Andrew O'Neil's
mirror carp weighing in at 16lbs putting the teams combined weight at
29lbs 12oz.
Thames21's
Angling Development Coordinator Grant Fear said, 'The competition was
a real challenge and I'm proud that their hard work and efforts paid off
with a silver medal. Thames21 Tightlines is proving to be a good way to
capture young people's interest in the canal environment and turning it
into something really positive.'
Environmental charity Thames21 brought the Tower Hamlet's team to the
London Youth Games as part of their Tightlines project which offers free
angling coaching sessions in the inner-city London boroughs of Hackney,
Southwark and Tower Hamlet's.
