Welcome to Thames21

We help people in London enjoy, protect and enhance their local river.

You can help us reconnect people to nature because we offer inspiring ways for communities to get down to their local riverbank, whether it is on the River Thames, London’s iconic river, or one of its many tributaries which run through all the boroughs of the capital.

Thousands of volunteers help us every year to rewild and protect rivers, canals and stretches of open water because they are the perfect antidote to urban living and a great way to get out in nature.

We aim to build the relationship between communities and their rivers; restoring river health and boosting wellbeing and community cohesion in the process.

Feeling inspired?

If you don’t see an event on your local waterway or have a suggestion for work you would like to see us doing, let us know.

We also run special annual events in partnership with others

One is the Three Rivers Clean Up, which ran for the ninth year in June 2017.
Another is London Rivers Week, a series of walks and talks to celebrate London’s rivers, run in partnership with the London Rivers Restoration Group, which was held for the second year running in 2017, at the end of June.
