FULLY BOOKED – Accredited Training: Leading Action for Healthy Rivers – Day 1 of a 2 day course
March 3 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
If you love your local waterways and want to make them even better, sign on for our 2-day ‘Leading Action for Healthy Rivers’ training!
Thames21 are committed to enabling communities to care for their local waterway. We are providing free training to residents who are keen to learn practical skills which they can apply to be River Keepers and/or start River Action Groups in their own area.
Taking Action for Healthy Rivers is much more than picking up litter.
Day 1: Tuesday 3rd March, 10am – 4pm at Tideway Head Office, The Cotton Centre, London Bridge.
Day 2: Tuesday 10th March, 10am – 4pm at Thames Water Angling Academy, Walthamstow Wetlands, Ferry Lane, Tottenham Hale.
Overview of Day 1 :
Day 1 is designed to help you build the knowledge, confidence and skills to lead safe, effective and fun waterway improvement events. You will learn to look out for what tasks a group of volunteers can do which will really make a difference.
By the end of Day 1, you will be able to plan your own event and show that you can select an appropriate site, spot hazards, ensure health and safety, organise tasks and equipment for your event.
There is no obligation to run events once you have taken this course. Many people take it simply for the learning experience and to join committed event volunteer team, others go on to lead their own events and build successful community-based River Action Groups with our support.
Our trainees have been involved in some exciting work over the years!
You will be provided with a workbook and other materials that will support your learning.
Please contact Poppy on firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like more information or to register for this course.
Please note places are limited and allocated on a first come, first served basis. Booking is essential.
