Balsam Bash- River Pinn
****IN ORDER TO KEEP EVENTS SAFE AND ENJOYABLE WE ARE LIMITING GROUP SIZE ****
Our events are very popular, so if you’ve booked and can no longer attend, please let us know so that your place can be offered to someone else!
Join Thames21 and help remove a very invasive plant, Himalayan Balsam, from your local waterway, the River Pinn in Hillingdon. Himalayan Balsam takes over the riverbanks, not allowing other species to grow. By helping remove the Himalayan Balsam you will help the health of the River Pinn by:
1. Increasing biodiversity allowing other plants to grow;
2. Decreasing soil erosion. Himalayan Balsam is an annual plant which dies back during the autumn. Consequently, due to its shallow roots, a large amount of soil erodes into the water and becomes silt.
Due to Covid-19 regulations there will be a limited number of spaces on this event, you will need to pre-book your space by emailing: email@example.com.
The event time and location will be forwarded to volunteers on booking. There are 10 volunteer spaces available that will be allocated on a first come first serve basis, so book quickly!
Thames 21 is dedicated to keeping volunteers and staff safe during this difficult time. To help keep everyone safe we ask volunteers not to use public transport to attend event, to bring their own refreshments and only to attend if they are not viewed as at risk. Further Covid-19 guidelines will be sent to each volunteer on booking.
