Dagenham Brook, Leyton: Drain Marking

February 14 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Free

Only Rain Down the Drain

Drain marking is a great way of spreading the word that our street drains lead straight to our local rivers.  Road drains were designed to just take rainwater but unfortunately carry anything else that is washed or poured down them.

Paints, household waste and oils are allowed to enter road drains everyday and this causes pollution of our waterways.

We will be marking 50 drains in this event on the roads around the Dagenham Brook, Leyton Jubilee Park. All equipment will be provided. Please remember to wrap up warm and bring waterproofs for the event. Under 16’s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. As always, we will be retiring to the Kukoolala Cafe, Marsh Lane where a free hot drink awaits us.

A number of volunteer sessions focussing on tree planting are currently taking place at the park on this day and many other days during the month of February ran by Waltham Forest Council, funders of this project. If you would like further information about those planting days, please do give me an email on the address on this page.

See you by the river,

Billy Coburn
