Enhancing the River Pinn Event- Eastcote House Gardens, River Action Day
October 12 @ 10:30 am - 1:30 pm
Enhancing the River Pinn is a project funded by the HS2 Community and Environment Fund to alleviate flooding and improve biodiversity in Ruislip and the surrounding areas.
Thames21 are working together with Hillingdon Council and the Friends of Eastcote House Gardens to clear backwaters along the River Pinn. Removing encroaching vegetation enables the backwaters to function better as a refuge for wildlife during fast water flows.
Come and join us to help improve your local river and get to meet new people! Everyone is welcome and no experience is necessary. We provide all the tools, equipment and training so you can just turn up and get stuck in.
There will be lots of tasks to do on the day including removing vegetation from the backwater refuges, clearing litter and managing the marginal vegetation along the river and managing the paths to make sure the site is accessible to people using the open space. To complete these tasks volunteers will be putting on waders and jumping in the shallow river but there will also be activities to do on the banks for people who don’t want to go into the water.
Please sign up below. Hope to see you there!
