London Rivers Week 2025: River Brent WaterBlitz – SOLD OUT
June 6 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Free
Please book this FREE event. Help us get a snapshot of water quality across the whole River Brent Catchment as part of London Rivers Week.
Join a team of Citizen Scientists to gather water quality samples at numerous locations along the Brent and its tributaries (Wealdstone Brook, Silk Stream, Burnt Oak Brook, Edgware Brook, Edgwarebury Brook, Dean’s Brook, Mutton Brook and Dollis Brook). This will help us build up a detailed picture of where pollution is coming from in the catchment and allow us to put pressure on Thames Water, the Environment Agency and local authorities to address pollution issues.
Another aim of the day is to compare the accuracy of devices like Hanna checkers with professional lab testing. This is a crucial step to show that the data citizen scientists are collecting is accurate and reliable.

Here is how you can get involved:
1) Join our online training session at 6pm-7pm on Thursday 29th May – we’ll explain how to take a sample and assign you a river location that works for you.
2) On the day of the WaterBlitz (between 10am and 12pm) you will collect your sample bottles from one of 5 hub sites across the catchment.
3) You’ll go to your survey location to take the sample and then return it to the hub site (by 1pm).
4) We’ll test the sample at the hub site and also send your sample off to a lab to be tested.
5) We’ll share the results of the survey with everyone that was involved, as well as Thames Water, the Environment Agency, local authorities and the Brent Catchment Partnership. We’ll also use the data to refine our monitoring strategy for the Brent.
