London Rivers Week 2025: River Roding guided walk (Debden to Wanstead)
June 1 @ 9:30 am - 2:30 pm

Celebrate London Rivers Week by joining the River Roding Trust for a FREE 5- or 10-mile guided walk along a beautiful stretch of London’s 3rd longest river. Starting at Debden station (or joining at Ray Park), they will wander down to Wanstead Park, observing how its shape has altered over time and appreciating its rich biodiversity. They will showcase some of the conservation and restoration work the Friends of the River Roding have carried out in recent months and imagine together what more can be achieved over the coming seasons and years.
Date: Sunday 1st June
9.30: set off from Debden station (What3Words: ///amused.likes.frozen)
12.00: break (or join) at Ray Park (///petty.sugar.poetic)
14.30: arrive at southeastern exit from Wanstead Park (///mixed.loser.occurs)
There is of course no obligation to walk the entire route and there are various public transport links along the way should you wish to leave early. Trousers or leggings – and ideally sleeves – are very highly recommended due to nettles encroaching in some sections of the route; a bottle of water is also recommended.
Under-18s must be accompanied by a parent/guardian/carer.
