London Rivers Week 2025: Riverscapes and the conversations that flow inbetween

May 31 @ 3:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Celebrate the River Lea – A Waterside Gathering at Cody Dock

Join Cody Dock for a relaxed event to mark the end of We The Lea‘s walk and celebrate their side of the River Lea. In collaboration with We The Lea, and as part of London Rivers Week 2025 we’re bringing together community, conversation, and creativity to reflect on London’s second river.

Cody Dock’s bar and café will be open throughout the event, offering welcoming spaces to wind down, enjoy food and drinks, and connect with others who care about the Lea and the waterways beyond.

What to Expect:

As you arrive, you’ll be invited to share your personal connection to the River Lea, your hopes for its future through an evolving, participatory piece led by local artist, Lydia Thornley and a facilitated activity led by Mariam Haddad.

The conversations that flow inbetween: Talks & Discussions (16:00 – 17:00)
Hear from those working closely with our waterways:

  • Q & A with Sonia Levy following the screening of her film, Sonia will be speaking about her artistic practice and her film Creatures of the Line, exploring submerged ecologies and the impact of industrialisation on river life.
  • Gino Brignoli and Alisa Graham-Brown, Join the conversation with Cody Dock’s Biodiversity Officers ,in conversation about the River Lea’s unique character—thinking of it as water, a boundary connector, and living system.

Riverscapes : Immersive film screenings about rivers & waterways (from 11:00)
A meditative exhibition inviting you to experience the river, beside the river, through a series of curated films exploring our relationship with rivers, including:

  • Creatures of the Line – Sonia Levy
  • Intercellular – Dan Short
  • Duck – Crispin Hughes & Susi Arnott
  • Sacred Geographies: From the Indus to the Lea – Ryan Powell & Corrina Dean

These works will play continuously throughout the evening, creating a space to pause, reflect, and immerse yourself in stories that flow with the current of the Lea.

Raise a glass, share your stories, and explore the power and beauty of our waterways.
