London Rivers Week Launch at Ladywell Fields

25th June 2017 @ 10:30 am - 2:00 pm

Free

Join us for the launch of London Rivers Week at Ladywell Fields where the river Ravensbourne has been broken out of its concrete channel and wooden boarding and allowed to meander over beautiful water meadows. A great example of the benefits of river restoration for wildlife and for people.

Join Thames21 and the people of Ladywell for a celebration of the local river.  Lawrence Beale Collins, the Ravensbourne Catchment Partnership officer for Thames21 will be demonstrating Riverfly invertebrate testing (bugs in the river) and discussing findings and he will also lead a river wade at 12.15 up to Catford and talk about the history of the river and the surrounding area and the work that is being done to improve nature. This is a great opportunity to get to know your local river. The event meeting place is by the cafe in the North field and activities will be spread between the North and Middle field.

Plus: Yoga, Nordic Walking and other wellbeing activities!

When: Sunday 25 June, 10.30 -2 pm

Where: Near cafe at Ladywell Fields, Lewisham – a beautiful restored river site where the river has been broken out of its concrete channel and allowed to meander across water meadows.
