London Rivers Week: Mudlarking Day
30th October 2021 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
Celebrate the final day of a mudlarking exhibition at Southwark Cathedral with some muddy foreshore fun during London Rivers Week!
Join Southwark Cathedral for a mudlarking day on the final chance to see the Larking: The Thames and Beyond exhibition.
Best-selling mudlarking author Lara Maiklam will be signing books. There will be lunchtime shanty singing with the London Sea Shanty Collective. Plus, the Cathedral catering partner and award-winning bakery Bread Ahead of Borough Market have even devised some wickedly delicious special edition, mudlarking themed cakes and doughnuts.
Meet Thames foreshore archaeologist Mike Webber and a selection of his foreshore finds, have your own finds identified by the Portable Antiquities Scheme, speak to the Port of London Authority about getting a permit to start mudlarking yourself, get hands on at the foreshore finds handling table and make your own medieval clay man with ceramic artist Raewyn Harrison.
Meet staff and volunteers from the Thames Discovery Project to find out more about the archaeology of the River Thames.
For full details visit the mudlarking day dedicated webpage.
London Rivers Week is a partnership campaign run through London Rivers Restoration Group, a sub-group of the Catchment Partnerships in London. It is sponsored by Thames Water.
