Restoring Enfield’s Rivers Event – Albany Park, River Action Day 09.08.2022
August 9 @ 11:00 am - 2:30 pm
THAMES21 and Enfield Council have teamed up to deliver conservation and restoration events in the London Borough of Enfield, creating cleaner and safer spaces for wildlife and people.
Join us for another free volunteering event on a Tuesday. A chance to make new friends, learn new skills, and just get outdoors this summer! This time we will be at Albany Park, where we will be performing a river clean up along the Turkey Brook.
Tasks: A wading river clean up/litter pick with some possible heavy lifting. Balsam bashing, a possible secondary task. No experience is necessary but this is a physical activity, often in a steep-sided freshwater water habitat, and is therefore not suitable for children under 15. Waders provided.
Date: Tuesday 9th August.
Time: 11.00am to 2.30pm.
Location: Albany Park, Enfield. A more precise meeting point will be sent to you when you book with TimetoSpare, as the meeting point may change.
By Car: Bell Lane running along the South of the park has plenty of free parking (EN3 5PA). Residential street parking can be found to the North (EN3 6AU) and East but this is limited (Beware that Beaconsfield Road also has a gate half way). Be respectful of residential access of course.
By Bus: Albany Park Avenue (Stop R), and two stops further along Bell Lane, near Castle Road, are all served by route 191 to the South of the park.
By Train: The nearest main line station is Enfield Lock to the North East of the park.
Bring with you: Your lunch and plenty of water. Suitable sturdy footwear, which is always recommended for attending any of our events. Please also dress suitably for the weather! We will provide hot drinks, biscuits, gloves, waders and tools.
Everyone is welcome, but please book a place by clicking on this new ‘TimetoSpare’ link. This is important. This enables us to plan equipment, let you know of any changes (and there have been!), and tender new projects for you.
