Restoring Enfield’s Rivers Event – Boundary Brook, River Action Day 29.03.2022
March 29 @ 10:30 am - 1:30 pm
Thames21 and Enfield Council are teaming up to deliver conservation and restoration events in Enfield, creating cleaner and safer spaces for wildlife.
This event is being run in partnership with The Enfield Society. The Enfield Society promotes the conservation and enhancement of the civic and natural environments of the London Borough of Enfield and its immediate surrounding area, for the public benefit. They were established in 1936 and have continued to carry out conservation events since.
Join us at the Boundary Brook where we will be holding a litter pick in the channel of the brook, to restore and preserve this wild space. The Brook begins as the Saddlers Mill Stream in the north of Enfield and lies underground for much of it’s journey before resurfacing at Boundary Park (Ditch). This is a lovely area between Edmonton and Ponders End just off the lea valley. This means it has the potential to attract some lovely wildlife and we would like to have it looking as natural as possible!
This is a litter clean-up event and we will be putting on waders and getting into the brook to do a clean-up of the stream. The Boundary Ditch is a lovely long space full of city wildlife. Recent efforts from Enfield Council and locals means this space is now much more accessible to the public, but there is still work to do. Come down and give us a hand improving this little patch.
To complete these tasks volunteers will be putting on waders and jumping in the shallow wetland but there will also be lots of activities and litter picking to do on the banks for people who don’t want to go into the water.
Everyone is welcome and no experience is necessary. We provide all the tools, equipment and training so you can just turn up and get stuck in!
Please sign up below. Hope to see you there!
