Restoring Enfield’s Rivers Event – Boundary Ditch Stream, River Action Day 24.02.2022
February 24 @ 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Thames21 and Enfield Council are teaming up to deliver conservation and restoration events in Enfield, creating cleaner and safer spaces for wildlife.
This event is being run in partnership with the Enfield Society. The Enfield Society promotes the conservation and enhancement of the civic and natural environments of the London Borough of Enfield and its immediate surrounding area, for the public benefit. We were established in 1936.
Join us at the Boundary Ditch where we will be managing habitat to increase local access to this wild space. We will also be doing an in channel litter pick of the Boundary Ditch Stream.
This is a habitat management event, focused along the stream that flows along the Boundary Ditch in Edmonton. We will be removing scrub and cutting back trees to improve local access to the site. Once this task is completed we will be putting on waders and doing a clean-up of the stream. The Boundary Ditch is a lovely long space full of city wildlife. Recent efforts from Enfield Council and locals means this space is now much more accessible to the public, but there is still work to do. Come down and give us a hand improving this little patch.
There will be lots of tasks to do on the day including thinning and cutting back trees in order to improve access to the site. We will then be doing a river clean-up in the stream. To complete these tasks we will be working on the bank and then volunteers may be putting on waders and jumping in the shallow wetland but there will also be lots of activities to do on the banks for people who don’t want to go into the water.
Everyone is welcome and no experience is necessary. We provide all the tools, equipment and training so you can just turn up and get stuck in!
