Restoring Enfield’s Rivers Event – Albany Park, River Action Day 29.07.2021
July 29 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
Thames21 and Enfield Council are teaming up to deliver conservation and restoration events in Enfield, creating a cleaner and safer space for wildlife.
Join us at Albany Park where we will be tackling pollution and managing habitat to help maintain a healthy environment for both people and nature.
This event is a clean-up and habitat management event, focused around the Turkey Brook which runs through the north of the park. Albany Park is a haven for so many local people. It is a really well used space and we believe it deserves some care and attention!
The Turkey Brook runs through the very north of the borough meaning it still provides a home for much of the wildlife that lives on the outskirts of London. By connecting Forty Hall Park and the Lea Valley, it provides an essential corridor for wildlife living and moving through the north of Enfield. The Turkey Brook provides an excellent opportunity to help encourage nature back into the borough and help rewild Enfield’s parks and green spaces. Thames21 and Enfield council have been tackling pollution in this river throughout the Restoring Enfield’s Rivers Project. We believe the amazing work being done by volunteers is clearly making a difference to the river and we really want to expand on this work. This river clean-up and habitat management event will focus on an area of the Brook we have not yet visited so hopefully we can have a large impact on the river health, encouraging fish, birds and other wildlife back into the borough!
There will be lots of tasks to do on the day including cleaning litter and rubbish out of the river and tackling invasive species. To complete these tasks volunteers will be putting on waders and jumping in the shallow river but there will also be lots of activities to do on the banks for people who don’t want to go into the water.
Come down and help us help restore the Turkey Brook in Albany Park! Everyone is welcome and no experience is necessary. We provide all the tools, equipment and training so you can just turn up and get stuck in!
