Restoring Enfield’s Rivers Event – Grovelands Park, Wild Walk 03.08.2021

August 3 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Do you know your pigeons from your parakeets? You’re sparrows from your starlings?

Whether you’re a seasoned birdwatcher or absolute beginner, come and join us for a bird watching tour of Grovelands Park.

This event is a wild walk event and will focus on birdwatching around Grovelands Park, but I’m sure we’ll see some other wildlife as we walk around!

If you’ve never been birdwatching before NO PROBLEM! Everyone is welcome. We’ll stroll around the park and our Thames21 staff will introduce you to the little creatures that call Grovelands Park home. We are very lucky in London to have access to so many green spaces within the city as they provide refuge for so many lovely species. If you would like to brush up on your bird ID before the event check out the RSPB’s list of garden birds! The Friends of Grovelands Park have also created an excellent guide to some of the species that you might find above your heads and in the reeds, which can be downloaded from their website. Looking forward to seeing you all out and about.

Grovelands Park boasts a great number of different habitats making it perfect for birdwatching! There are the ancient woodlands, whose large trees provide homes for woodpeckers, great tits and nuthatches. The open meadows will provide great feeding locations for thrushes, magpies and doves and the extensive wetlands and streams for all manner of wildlife. This event will also be a great opportunity to get active, meet likeminded people in your neighbourhood and to learn a new skill. Bird watching can be extremely relaxing and is an excellent way to release stress and cool down. It provides an escape from our fast lives and really allows you to begin to notice the world and wildlife around you. We are looking forward to meeting you all there and sharing some time in nature together.

If you can get your hands on a pair of binoculars or a bird identification book please bring them along, but it’s not essential!

Let’s come together as a community. Let’s get outside and into nature. Let’s find some birds!
