Restoring Enfield’s Rivers Event – Planting Enfield Chase wetlands Pt.2, River Action Day 23.04.2022

April 23 @ 11:00 am - 2:30 pm

Thames21 and Enfield Council are teaming up to deliver conservation and restoration events in Enfield, creating cleaner and safer spaces for wildlife and people.

Join us for a second day at Enfield Chase where we will be planting the wetlands and SuDS to introduce valuable native aquatic plants to the area.

The aim of this event is to increase the local biodiversity of the area by introducing native wetland species into the small wetlands and Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems. Our aim is to create a patchwork of different habitats along the Salmons Brook in Enfield Chase, improving biodiversity. We would like to see native British aquatic plants return to the banks and the river channel. Inviting in aquatic plants and water weeds will create habitats for river species and wetland species, whilst also controlling the flow of water down to the brook and controlling sediment and agricultural runoff.

There will be a lot of staking coir mats and planting plug plants to do! To complete these tasks volunteers may be putting on waders and jumping in the shallow wetlands but there will also be lots of activities to do on the banks for people who don’t want to go into the water. Everyone is welcome and no experience is necessary!

Please sign up below. Hope to see you there!
