Restoring Enfield’s Rivers Event – Salmons Brook Walk River Action Day, 24.06.2021
June 24 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
This event will focus on the stretch of the Salmons Brook that connects Montagu Recreation Ground and Edmonton shopping centre. This is a very well used stretch of the River and we believe it would be excellent if it offered local residents a chance to interact with wildlife. On our scouting missions we’ve seen egrets fishing and finches flying between the trees. Ducks paddling between flag iris plants and small colonies of interesting water plants like water mint. We believe all of this is worth protecting! The Salmons Brook also feeds the River Lea, which in turn runs into the Thames and eventually out to the Atlantic Ocean. It might seem a long way away, but by taking litter out of the Salmons Brook you’ll be taking action to save marine species as well as London wildlife!
However, this stretch of the Salmons Brook is quite badly littered so Thames21 in Partnership with Enfield Council are looking to restore it back to its natural glory! Come and give nature a hand! We welcome anyone to come down and join in and no experience is necessary! We will provide all equipment include waders so you can gain a completely new perspective from IN THE RIVER! This is an excellent opportunity to give back to your local community and a good first step to protecting your local wildlife and green spaces. Hopefully see you there..
The tasks will also include pulling up the invasive species Himalayan balsam but will focus mainly on getting rubbish out of the river!
