POSTPONED: River Action Group – East India Dock Reed Bed Litter Pick
March 28 @ 9:45 am - 1:00 pm
East India Dock Reed Bed Litter Pick – Day two
East India Dock Basin Reed Bed Litter Pick – Day Two
Did you know there’s a water bird sanctuary right near Canary Wharf? It’s stunning, and it needs our help!
Come and join in a new initiative in Docklands to improve our natural environment, starting with two events in East India Dock Basin. We’ll get cracking to help improve the habitat of the many species of birds and other animals that call the Basin home – removing the massive amount of plastic and other litter that has collected in the reeds to return it to the beautiful space it should be.
Saturday 28 – 9.45am to 1.00pm
We need to get in quick before nesting season starts, so this will be the second of only two dates, with more to be scheduled later in the year once the nests are vacated.
Meet at East India Dock Basin (the Orchard Place end), E14 0JU. Closest DLR is East India and closest tube is Canning Town. There is a very close bus stop Leamouth / Orchard Place served by route D3.
Generously supported by Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, all equipment will be provided, including Wellingtons. Due to the characteristics of the habitat, numbers will be limited, so please register here, where we will also ask for your boot size. You will need to dress for the weather and bring some thick socks.
There will be a break for hot drinks and biscuits during the event.
Please note: Only children aged 10 and upwards will be allowed in the reed bed. All children between 10 and 16 need to be accompanied by an adult
