River Wade in Beckenham Place Park

17th September 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

This event is now fully booked. If you’d like to join the volunteers programme please email Catriona at

Date: Sunday 17th September

Time: 10:00am – 12:30pm

Venue: Ravensbourne River, Beckenham Place Park, Downham Gate, The Common, Old Bromley Road, BR1 4JZ

Join us for a river wade along the Ravensbourne River in Beckenham Place Park. Learn about your river while making a positive difference with other locals.

We’ll meet for a 10am river health and safety briefing before guiding you up the river for approximately 90 minutes; walking along the riverbank and in the river with the aim of collecting rubbish, removing any large items and invasive species along the way.

Meeting point: Meet by the open section of the river opposite the playpark. You’ll see a small blue van parked up. The nearest access into the park is at the Downham Gate from the Old Bromley Road.

Here is a link to the location:

Address: Beckenham Place Park, Downham Gate, The Common, Old Bromley Road, BR1 4JZ

What to bring: Please dress appropriately for weather on the day with leggings/trousers to wear under waders, closed toe shoes and bring water to stay hydrated.

We’ll provide waders, gloves, litter pickers, bags and walking poles. When booking your place you’ll be asked to confirm your shoe size so we can provide you with the correct size waders.

All children under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult. For this event, children under 14 years old will have limited access to certain parts of the river due to depth of the water.

Facilities: The nearest toilets in the park are an approximate ten-minute walk from where we’ll be.

Catriona and Vic from Thames21 look forward to welcoming you all
