VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!   TO MONITOR THE HEALTH OF THE RIVER BRENT

Thames21 are setting up a Riverfly Monitoring Initiative (RMI) on the River Brent in 2019.

The training will take place at Hanwell Zoo, W7 3BP
11:00 – 16:00  on  Thursday 4th April 2019

Register your place at: RiverflyBrent.eventbrite.co.uk

Places are limited so please make sure you can sample your river for at least 6 months (1 sample per month) before registering.

The RMI is a national scheme for monitoring the health of rivers developed by the Riverfly Partnership.
RMI sampling uses the presence and abundance of invertebrates in a sample to gauge the health of your river. Free training in the sampling method will be provided by the Zoological Society of London.

In the training you will learn:
• The theory of the RMI and how it helps improve rivers
• How to kick sample a river
• How to identify river invertebrates and score a sample
• What to do with the data you collect
You will also meet other volunteers working to protect the River Brent.
