Spring Preparations in CHANDOS PARK – HARROW 19/02/2022

February 19 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Example of what we have been doing to restore the Edgware Brook, Clearing Rubbish, Restoring public views and access, Creating wildlife corridors, Being a part of a community project to restore the natural habitat and bring people back to connecting with nature.

Happy New Year to one and all, come and be on a part of transform the Edgware Brook.

As part of the ongoing habitat management in 2022, we will be creating Art installations along the Brook to provide safe habitats and homes for the animals that live along the waterside. You are needed to help us achieve this by coming down and being a part of the creative workforce. We will be creating a couple of hibernaculum’s (hedgehog hotels) in the shape of hedgehogs using the wood and sticks produced when clearing the vegetation back.

Join the volunteering team to help make a difference in your local
community by improving the river for wildlife and for people.
Come to learn some new skills and look after the Edgware Brook.

As part of the ongoing project we are doing scrub clearance events at Chandos park to improve the visibility of the Brook.

We will provide all the tools required, but we need your help to achieve this.

Come along, choose your tool, get stuck in making a difference.

Connecting with nature has been proven to help with stress and improve wellbeing.

Not only will you be achieving something positive for the environment, and for yourself, but you will also get to see a different side of the park and Brook.

Every time you visit the same place in nature there is something new to see, especially as we continue to clear sections of the banks along the Brook. We are creating better habitats and prettier views of the Brook, for us and the wildlife.

As part of our scrub clearance event, we will be asking people to help us by suggesting art projects we can create, that will benefit the wildlife in the park.

For example, we would like to use the wood from the clearance events to build artful bug hotels, artful hibernaculum’s, maybe animal totems, and attractive dead hedges.

We want to hear your ideas, members of the public like yourself have lots of great ideas we might be able to incorporate into features along the Brook, to make the river even more attractive to both people, and the wildlife.

The meeting point will be HERE at the RED DOT:

Times of the event will be from 1030am -1400pm.

Parking is available in the car park entrance on Camrose Ave.

You will be working so please do bring a lunch with you and water.
