Thames Road Wetland – World Wetlands Day Habitat Management

February 6 @ 10:30 am - 3:00 pm

Celebrate World Wetlands Day this week by getting muddy at our urban wetland reserve, Thames Road Wetland! We need volunteers to help with vegetation management and litter removal. This work is vital to maintain this special habitat – home to many species including water voles, dragonflies, reptiles, amphibians, birds and notable plants. Management works need to be carried out in winter to avoid disturbing breeding birds in spring and summer.

Volunteers are also invited to join a site tour after the workday with volunteer site manager Chris Rose, to find out more about the wildlife and habitats at this urban wetland.

All tools and equipment are provided, along with wellies, waders and protective gloves. Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather conditions. Basic refreshments will be provided, and you are welcome to bring a packed lunch. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Meeting Point: Entrance to Byway 105, Thames Road, Dartford DA1. The nearest station is Crayford.
Please email clare.smith@thames21.org.uk to register your interest, with your boot size and contact phone number.
