Urban River Regeneration: Restoring Brent Rivers and Communities
25th January 2020 @ 10:30 am - 2:30 pm
Your River Needs You!
You are invited to join Thames21 to improve the river for wildlife and for people. Come and learn some new skills, meet new people and look after the River Brent at the same time.
We will be improving the river with natural methods and will be installing small deflectors, permeable berms, marginal planting, and restoring the river banks.
The activities proposed for this series of events in the River Brent involve vegetation management and litter picking the surrounding environment and accessible in-channel areas.
HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?
There will be many opportunities to volunteer which will be open anyone who wants to be part of river enhancement effort or to become a citizen scientist.
We are also calling photographers, artists, beginners, experienced, and all those with interest, we would like the event and surrounding environment captured through pictures and drawings.
At the heart of the project is a series of river habitat and floodplain improvements along newly accessible river walks. This will be co-delivered with local communities through inspiring engagement, knowledge exchange and practical river repair workshops that are designed to develop skills and embed a greater appreciation of the natural environment, whilst building social networks within and between local groups. An important feature of this project is the build-up of knowledge and experiences, celebrating local and catchment-wide achievements through both science and arts experience, connecting and enhancing the value of individuals’ efforts both locally and nationally.
The events will happen from 10.30am – 2.30pm on:
25 January 2020
13 February 2020
29 February 2020
