Your Local River Needs You!
Join the volunteering team and make a difference in your local community by improving the river for wildlife and for people. Come to learn some new skills and look after your local river.
In this series of events we will be undertaking practical river improvement solutions. These solutions will involve:
- Cleaning-up litter from the brook and marginal area
- Monitoring the river’s health
- Increasing awareness of our watercourses
- Scoping for future river restoration
- Planting native semi-aquatic species
HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?
There will be many opportunities to volunteer which will be open anyone who wants to be part of river enhancement effort or to become a citizen scientist.
This will be co-delivered with local communities through inspiring engagement, knowledge exchange and practical river works that are designed to develop skills and embed a greater appreciation of the natural environment, whilst building social networks within and between local groups.
An important feature of this project is the build-up of knowledge and experiences, celebrating local and catchment-wide achievements through both science and arts experience, connecting and enhancing the value of individuals’ efforts both locally and nationally.
The events will happen from 10.30am – 1.30pm on:
