SUMMARY:London Rivers Week 2026: Introduction to MoRPh CSci training event [FULLY BOOKED]
DESCRIPTION:As part of London Rivers Week\, Cartographer are hosting a free\, open\, in-person ‘Introduction to MoRPh’ training. This one-day training course will teach you how to conduct a MoRPh survey so that you can assess and monitor the physical health of your river. \n\n\nWhy MoRPh? The MoRPh survey is conducted at short river lengths and records physical habitat\, vegetation and human impacts. Surveys are entered into the MoRPh Citizen Science database which produces a series of condition indicators about the health of the river. This introductory video provides further information about the MoRPh survey. \nWhat does the training involve? This course will teach you how to conduct a MoRPh survey and how to enter and view surveys in the database. This one-day training includes a morning of classroom teaching\, followed by riverside field training in the afternoon. We will be visiting a newly-restored section of the River Crane to see how MoRPh can be used to monitor the impacts of restoration. The course will qualify you to become a MoRPh CSci surveyor. \nNumbers are limited and booking is essential! \nRegister here.\nPlease send any questions to: training@cartographer.io

SUMMARY:River Litter Detectives - Broomhouse Dock
DESCRIPTION:Book your place here \nCome along and join Thames21 as a river citizen scientist on the River Thames. We will collect the litter we find and categorise it into sewage-derived litter\, plastic items\, and other types of litter. This will help us determine the quantity of litter turning up along the riverside and investigate which litter category poses the biggest problem. \nWe look forward to welcoming you to our event\, which will cover everything you need to know to carry out a litter survey or clean up with Thames21 Citizen Science Volunteer for Thames River Watch. \nBoth new and existing Thames21 volunteers are encouraged to attend and investigate plastic pollution on the Tidal Thames. \nThis event is suitable for anyone (over the age of 10 accompanied by an adult) with an interest in plastic pollution\, or those who want to help monitor and improve the River Thames. \nThis is an event designed for the community to engage the local public with the river and not for corporates. If you are interested in a bespoke corporate volunteer day. Please visit our website https://www.thames21.org.uk/get-involved-2/corporatevolunteer \nPlease make sure you have suitable footwear (wellies or boots) that covers your ankles and weather-appropriate clothing for the day as this site tends to be very muddy. \nIf you have any questions\, please contact Stephanie at stephanie.fernandes@thames21.org.uk \nBook your place here.
