SUMMARY:London Rivers Week 2026: Guided Walk Exploring the Industrial History of the River Wandle
DESCRIPTION:Led by John Sheridan of the Wandle Industrial Museum\, this FREE event starts at Mitcham\, lets you view sections of the River Wandle\, and finishes at the ‘Stableyard’ in Morden Hall Park. \nBooking essential and spaces are limited\, please email John to secure your spot: john.sheridan08@gmail.com \nThe River Wandle is steeped in history. Along this walk\, you will learn about the historical sites of brewing\, flour milling\, papermaking\, textile printing and snuff milling\, together with some former watermill buildings which are still standing. \nDate: Sunday 31st May \nMeet at the bike racks at Mitcham Tram Stop at 12pm. The walk will take approximately 1.5hrs\, will take in Watermeads and Ravensbury Park and end at the Stableyard in Morden Hall Park. \nAttendees are welcome to join for as much or as little of the walk as they choose. \nPlease be prepared with comfortable and weather appropriate clothing and shoes\, healthy snacks and plenty of water. There are toilet facilities at Morden Hall Park. \nBooking essential and spaces are limited\, please email John to secure your spot: john.sheridan08@gmail.com \nAll U18s must be accompanied by an adult. \nIf you sign up for the event but later find that you can’t attend\, please let us know as soon as possible.
