DESCRIPTION:Get your walking boots on and join this FREE guided walk along three public realm sites of the Thames Tideway Tunnel – their design\, engineering and place in the Thames’ history. \nThere will be two sessions for this walk: one in the morning and another in the afternoon. \nDate: Saturday 30th May \nTime for MORNING SESSION: 11am-1pm \n\nREGISTER HERE FOR MORNING SESSION. \n\nTime for AFTERNOON SESSION: 2pm-4pm \nREGISTER HERE FOR AFTERNOON SESSION. \n\n\nWhat was behind the design of public realm sites along the Thames Tideway Tunnel? How is the Thames Tideway Tunnel helping to improve water quality of the river as part of a 3-stage improvement scheme? \nDuring London Rivers Week 2026\, come and join Ian and Neil from the Environment Agency for a FREE guided walk along the tidal River Thames to visit three of the new ‘Super Sewer’ foreshore sites. You will hear about the water quality history of the Thames\, the engineering and architectural aspects of the sites\, and the Environment Agency’s role during construction and operation of the Thames Tideway Tunnel. \nDistance: approximately 2.5 miles \nMeeting point and time: 2pm at Bazalgette Embankment\, Blackfriars \nThe walk will proceed along the embankment to Tideway’s Tyburn Quay (opposite the London Eye) and end at Effra Quay (adjacent to Vauxhall Bridge) at approximately 4pm \nPlease be prepared with comfortable and weather-appropriate clothing\, healthy snacks and plenty of water. \nAll under-18s must be accompanied by an adult. \nIf you sign up for the event but later find that you can’t attend\, please let us know as soon as possible. DESCRIPTION:Join Thames21 and Tideway\, the company behind London’s new super sewer\, for a special\, family-friendly\, London Rivers Week launch event on Saturday 23rd May\, 14:30–16:30pm\, featuring a one-week-only photography exhibition celebrating rivers\, communities and creativity\, plus a free guided tour of the newly opened site and inspiring stories about the River Thames.  \nPart of London Rivers Week\, Standing by the Thames showcases portraits and panoramic scenes of the people who live and work alongside the river and help protect and improve it.  \nDiscover the engineering behind London’s £5bn ‘super sewer’ and how it aims to reduce sewage overflows into the Thames by 95%. On the day\, you can hear from photographer Matt Joseph and ask Tideway’s experts your engineering questions\, all set against the backdrop of Bazalgette Embankment by Blackfriars.  \nNo booking required.
