Why do we collect your demographic data?

Thank you for taking the time to fill in our demographic information questions. We understand that these questions can sometimes feel a little intrusive, and want to explain why we collect data on these characteristics.

Across the organisation we want our participants to be representative of London and the communities we work in. We firmly believe as an organisation that natural spaces and opportunities to participate in environmental activities should be open to all.

By monitoring for these characteristics at all events across Thames21, we can see how well our outreach activities are doing, and drive any changes we need to make to ensure our participant base is representative of London and the wider Thames area.

Some questions you may have:

Why isn’t this data collected anonymously?

By storing demographic data in participant records, we only have to ask for this information once. This also allows us to track whether there are any trends in attendance across types of events. The data is always processed anonymously, and never attributed to a particular person in processing or reporting.

How is the data stored?

Data is stored in accordance with the Thames21 Privacy Policy which you can read in full here: https://www.thames21.org.uk/privacy-policy/

Who can I contact about this data?
