Volunteer with Northbrook River Action Group!

July 17 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
Welcome to one of London’s newest wetlands which is already an award-winner!
 –
Northbrook wetland was created from a damp grassy area in a park in Lewisham, SE12, by daylighting a small stream. It has two ponds linked by a channel plus meadow and woodland areas. This peaceful urban oasis is popular with residents and park visitors of all ages.
A new River Action Group is now looking after the site with monthly sessions to manage vegetation plus create wildlife havens including a stag beetle loggery and dead hedge.
Come along to join us! Our next meeting is on Friday July 17 at 10am and we work until 12.30.
Volunteers are welcome to take food and drink breaks, especially in the hot weather, while tea, coffee, drinking water and biscuits are provided.
Please wear sturdy shoes and practical clothes which you don’t mind getting dirty.
For full details, please email Clare at northbrookrag@yahoo.com.
The hard work creating Northbrook wetland was recognised with the 2026 CIRIA Susdrain environmental award for a large-scale retrofit project. Judges highlighted the transformation of a ‘grass desert’ into a rich and diverse wetland that benefits people and nature.
