Wildlife Walk: Exploring Costons Brook & Its Water Vole Potential

September 24 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Free

Join Thames21, Citizen Zoo, Ealing Wildlife Group, and Ealing Council for a free guided walk along the Costons Brook to explore the exciting potential to bring water voles back.

Overview:

With restoration work expanding across the Brent Catchment, we are working to turn the river back into a thriving haven for water voles. Join this introductory walk to learn about the UK’s fastest-declining mammal, its preferred habitats, and how community rewilding efforts can return the species to London’s waterways.

This walk marks the launch of a new Brent Catchment recovery initiative. It will be followed by an online webinar detailing lessons learned from our successful Get InVOLEd project along the Hogsmill River in southwest London, and how that model can be applied in the River Brent.

On this guided walk, you will:

  • Hear more about the vision for reintroducing water voles along the River Brent.
  • Walk the river to learn about good and bad habitats for water voles.
  • Understand water vole ecology, diet, ecosystem roles, and the main drivers of their decline.
  • Understand how you will be able to get involved in bringing the project to life.

Thank you to the Mayor of London and Thames Water for supporting this event.
