London Rivers Week 2026: A River Rights Charter for the Channelsea Creek – lecture and workshop

Join the Climate Ecological Transitions Hub at Loughborough University London (LUL) for a River Rights Charter event as part of London Rivers Week 2026, with Surge Cooperative and River Rights Network, welcoming the rivers community for a lecture and hands-on workshop to explore the development of a River Rights Charter for the Channelsea Creek in East London.
The event will enable participants to explore the potential for a Rights of Rivers approach with a specific focus on the Channelsea community. The workshop will raise awareness of the concept of Rights for Rivers and its relevance to their river, inspire participants with practical examples, develop a greater sense of connection with their river, and assess the feasibility of developing a Rights for Rivers approach for their own river.
3 – 4pm: River rights public lecture by Josh Levene of River Rights Network and Love Our Ouse
5 – 7pm: A River Rights Charter for the Channelsea workshop with Surge Coop, led by River Rights Network
Address: Climate Ecological Transitions Hub, Loughborough University – 3 Lesney Avenue, The Broadcast Centre, E20 3BS
