London Rivers Week 2026: Guided Bat Walk

May 26 @ 8:45 pm - 10:30 pm
Free

Join Thames Landscape Strategy for an enchanting spring evening exploring the secret world of bats in the beautiful grounds of Home Park at Hampton Court as part of London Rivers Week.

As dusk settles, we’ll take a gentle guided walk to discover the incredible species that emerge at twilight.

Led by the Thames Landscape Strategy team, this family‑friendly walk will introduce you to the fascinating behaviour, ecology, and conservation of bats. We’ll use handheld bat detectors to listen to their ultrasonic calls and identify different species as they swoop, forage, and navigate through the night.

Date: Tuesday 26th May

Time: 8:45 pm

Location: Meet at the Kingston Gate enterance for Home Park. Near where Hampton Court Road and Church Grove intersect.

What 3 Words: ///listed.design.grapes

What to bring: Comfortable walking shoes, warm layers, and a torch

Suitable for: Adults and children (under 16s accompanied by an adult)

Come along and celebrate the wildlife of the Thames corridor, one of London’s most historic and biodiverse landscapes.

Please note: As these are wild animals, sightings cannot be guaranteed. The walk may be cancelled or rescheduled depending on weather conditions.
