Thames21 Volunteer Celebration Awards
We had a fantastic evening at our Thames21 Volunteer Celebration awards last week at Poplar Union in East London.
We presented the third Celia Hensman River Leader of the Year Award to Anwar Punekar & the East Londoner Seniors Club. They were given recognition for their dedicated efforts in helping to protect and enhance London’s rivers.

The award was set up in memory of Thames21’s much-loved founder, Celia Hensman. Other winners included Dianne Murphy, who won the ‘Highly Commended’ Celia Hensman River Leader of the Year Award.
Anne Reimers received the Star Volunteer Award. The River Action Group Award went to the Ching Action Group, and ‘The Most Weird & Wonderful Thing Found in a River’ award went to The WaSh Wombles. Congratulations to all winners!
We would like to thank the other nominees and our other volunteers for their excellent work in helping to protect and restore our rivers!
