London Rivers Week 2026: Action for Silk Stream – River Action Day

May 28 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Join us for free our Action for Silk Stream monthly volunteering days as part of London Rivers Week 2026.

Please book here: Action for Silk Stream LRW Volunteer day – Thames21 Limited

We will be in Rushgrove Park, Barnet

Activities include balsam bashing and  litter picking.

Balsam is an invasive plant that we don’t want to see growing along our riverbanks. The best and easiest way to remove it is by pulling it out by hand. It’s easy to spot and easy to pull out. We guarantee that by the end of the day, you will be an expert in this activity!! No previous experience necessary!

Where to meet:

Rushgrove Park, NW9 6RD

What3Words: ///snows.divisions.steer

Nearest tube: Colindale

Note – There are no toilets on site.

What to Bring:

Dress for the weather and the task – long trousers and sleeves are advisable as there are nettles and brambles.

Please bring a packed lunch and plenty of fluids.

We will bring tea/coffee and biscuits.

We will provide all other equipment (including wellies) needed for the event and we look forward to welcoming you!

Email helen.cardy@thames21.org.uk if you have any questions.

Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please make sure you have weather appropriate clothing for the day.

Please get in touch if you have any questions about accessibility. We will do our best to make this event as accessible as possible.
