London Rivers Week 2026: Balsam Bash at Ham

Join our friends Thames Landscape Strategy for a free, friendly, hands‑on volunteer session helping to control Himalayan Balsam, an invasive plant that poses a threat to riverbanks and wildlife.

What to Expect
You will be working along the riverside with Thames Landscape Strategy, to remove Himalayan Balsam before it sets seed. This simple but effective action helps protect native plants, improves habitats for wildlife, and keeps our local rivers healthy and resilient.
No previous experience is needed – just enthusiasm!
All tools, gloves and guidance will be provided on the day.
Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
These sessions are relaxed, sociable and open to all. Bring along a friend, family member, or come solo and meet like‑minded people.
Hot drinks and biscuits will be provided, so we can relax and chat between tasks.
What to Bring
Comfortable outdoor clothing (including long sleeves and trousers)
Sturdy shoes or boots
A packed lunch and water
Sunscreen if required
All U18s must be accompanied by an adult.
