London Rivers Week 2026 Launch Event: Standing by the Thames

Join Thames21 and Tideway, the company behind London’s new super sewer, for a special, family-friendly, London Rivers Week launch event on Saturday 23rd May, 14:30–16:30pm, featuring a one-week-only photography exhibition celebrating rivers, communities and creativity, plus a free guided tour of the newly opened site and inspiring stories about the River Thames.
Part of London Rivers Week, Standing by the Thames showcases portraits and panoramic scenes of the people who live and work alongside the river and help protect and improve it.
Discover the engineering behind London’s £5bn ‘super sewer’ and how it aims to reduce sewage overflows into the Thames by 95%. On the day, you can hear from photographer Matt Joseph and ask Tideway’s experts your engineering questions, all set against the backdrop of Bazalgette Embankment by Blackfriars.
