What’s on?
Join us for a mix of drop-in and scheduled activities throughout the afternoon:
13:00-16.00 Drop in Halloween and Wetland-themed activities (all ages):
- Arts & Crafts
- Scavenger Hunt
14.00-15.00 Pondside Tales: Amphibians, Bats & Fungi hosted by Emily, Amphibian Expert & Glendale’s Nature Conservation Officer (recommended enjoyment age: 5+ years – younger children under 5 may find it tricky to sit through the full session)
- Join us by the ponds for a fascinating (and slightly spooky!) journey into the world of amphibians, bats, and fungi – the creatures that make Halloween feel truly wild! Discover how these amazing species live, hunt, and thrive in our wetlands, and uncover the myths and magic that surround them. Expect stories, surprises, and a new appreciation for nature’s “Halloween” residents.
15.30-16.15 SoundScape Crystal Bowl Meditation
Hosted by Tracey, Red Ox Fitness
(Recommended enjoyment age: 8+ years to sit or lie through the full session.)
- Sit or lie back and relax both your mind and body whilst absorbing the soothing sounds and vibrations created by crystal singing bowls. Each bowl is tuned to a note that is said to correspond with the chakras in your body to promote a sense of calm, relaxation and healing. You’ll be invited to lay on a large sheet of tarp placed between you and the earth.
What to bring: A mat, jumper/blanket, and a small cushion for your head to ensure comfort – our body temperature drops during relaxation.
Meeting point:
Enter Northbrook Park from Baring Road and follow the path to the far end of the park away from the playground. The wetlands entrance is next to the MUGA/Basketball area, diagonally opposite the playground.
What to Bring:
- Dress for the weather
- Long trousers and sleeves are advisable as there are nettles and brambles in the area.
- Your reusable water bottle
Facilities: There are no toilets in the park so please plan ahead.
Nearest community toilets: Cafe Lokum (52 Baring Road).
The Community Cafe at the Ringway Centre (268 Baring Road) is open 13.00-15.00
