As part of London Rivers Week 2026, come and join Thames Estuary Partnership for a FREE guided walk around the Greenwich Peninsula to explore the lesser-known environmental past and present of London’s famous river.

To register click on link to BOOK HERE (tickets available from 2nd March 2026)

Date: Saturday 23rd May

Time: 2pm-4pm

Meeting point: At the ‘History in Motion display’ on Olympian Way

During the walk they will discuss the impacts of Ice Ages, how the river and its surrounding area has changed as London grew, the deterioration and revival of aquatic life, and the future. The talk will also highlight that by investing into the recovery of an urban river, it can become a healthy and thriving environment with diverse aquatic habitats and species.

The walk will provide an opportunity to enjoy the mental health and well-being benefits of being outside and being near water as well #BlueMind. (To find out about the concept of Blue Mind, listen to our Talk of the Thames podcast episode.)

The guided walk will start at the History in Motion display on Olympian Way, about 500 yards east from North Greenwich Pier (*what3words: noted.wash.deed), and will finish at Point Wharf (what3words: city.groom.call) with short stops in between.

Please be prepared with comfortable and weather appropriate clothing and shoes, healthy snacks and plenty of water. Toilets will be available at North Greenwich station.

*What is what3words? It is map viewing platform which divided the world into 3 metre squares and gave each square a unique combination of three words. It’s the easiest way to find and share exact locations.

All U18s must be accompanied by an adult.
