BRIC Project: On the road to Rouen

In March, all the partners from the Building Resilience in Communities (BRIC) project finally managed to meet in person, gathering in Rouen, France. It was a packed few days with a seminar, project meeting and site visits.

As well as exploring the beautiful Seine-side city and enjoying its culinary delights! After almost a year working together online, it was great to finally connect face-to-face, exploring together how citizen involvement in flood resilience differs between England and France, sharing successful engagement techniques and overcoming challenges, as well as learning about exciting local natural flood management community projects. It was the perfect way to inspire and energise everyone for a busy spring and summer of events and activities focused on building resilience in some of England and France’s most vulnerable flood risk communities.

As part of our BRIC Talks series, we caught up with BRIC Programme Manager, Liza Oxford from Plymouth County Council, to hear her thoughts on the BRIC project so far. To be kept up to date with Canvey Island BRIC activities and to get involved, email CanveyIslandBRIC@thames21.org.uk.
