London Rivers Week 2024: Rewilding the River Rom River Festival

Welcome to London Rivers Week! This special occasion is dedicated to honoring London’s rivers and recognizing London as a river city. Join us in celebrating the wonderful aspects of our rivers, from their contributions to health and well-being to their role in cultural activities. Let’s embrace this opportunity to highlight the importance of rivers and all they bring to our city.
We will be doing restoration work on the River Rom in The Chase Nature Reserve by tackling invasive non-native species, specifically Himalayan balsam. Himalayan balsam out-competes other species for space, light, nutrients and pollinators thereby reducing native biodiversity along the river bank.
We are meeting at Eastbrookend Discovery Centre Car Park – Google maps link – at 10AM and finishing up at 2PM.
