Rewilding the Rom – Beating the Balsam Back

April 29 @ 10:00 am - 2:30 pm

Join Thames21 for a day of meaningful impact and community connection as we focus on removing Himalayan Balsam from the banks of the River Rom and the newly created wetland.

Himalayan Balsam is a invasive non-native species that grows rapidly and spreads quickly, smothering other vegetation as it goes. It reduces biodiversity along river banks and wetlands before dying off in the autumn, leaving the banks bare and prone to erosion.

🗓️ Save the Date: Mark your calendars. Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or brand new to the experience, we welcome everyone with open arms. Together, we’ll contribute to a healthier, more vibrant natural space for present and future generations to enjoy.

📍 Location: The Chase Nature Reserve, Dagenham, Romford RM7 0SS

We will meet by the Eastbrookend Discovery Centre Car Park, next to the picnic area and walk to the wetland

📧 RSVP: To confirm your participation and receive further details please sign up on Plinth – Book

This event is suitable for anyone over the age of 18. Please make sure you have weather appropriate clothing for the day. We will provide all other equipment needed for the event and we look forward to welcoming you!

This is an event designed for the community, to engage the local public with the river and not for corporates. If you are interested in a bespoke corporate volunteer day, please visit our website https://www.thames21.org.uk/get-involved-2/corporatevolunteering/
