FULLY BOOKED – London Rivers Week 2024: How to fix our broken water system?

June 24 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Only 14% of rivers in England have a good ecological status and none have a good chemical status. Water quality and the health of our rivers must improve.

Agriculture, wastewater and diffuse urban pollution are the main sources of pollution affecting water bodies in England. Water companies have rightly been condemned by campaigners, the media and the public for allowing far too many sewage spills into rivers. Questions have been asked about whether the Government and bodies such as Ofwat and the EA are doing enough to regulate water companies and enforce environmental law.

The model we have for our current water system is broken. How do we fix this? Professor Dieter Helm has the answer.

He has pre-recorded a special video for Thames21 as part of London Rivers Week 2024.

Day and time: Monday 24th June. 10am-11am
