River clean-ups

Clean-ups are the backbone of Thames21’s work, and how we came into being as a charity in the first place.

Clean-ups are uplifting, empowering events which may take place on the foreshore of the world famous River Thames, or beside other smaller tributary rivers and waterbodies elsewhere in London.

People love the clean-ups because they take place in ‘secret’ natural spaces which are often ignored, and because they give us the chance to make an obvious, immediate improvement to the environment where we live.

Typically, our clean-ups help to remove litter or invasive species, to help make our waterways thriving places for wildlife and spaces that people can enjoy.
